In the afternoon, February 25th, 2021 at 13:30, the Cabinet of Lao Academy of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Science and Technology organized an activity at Savanh Secondary School, Sunnantha Village, Kaisonphomvihan District, Savannakhet Province. Led by Mr. KeoOuthone Lounsengchan, Deputy Head of Cabinet of Lao Academy of Science and Technology, and Mrs. Bakeo Suvanhnarat, Deputy Head of Cabinet of Lao Academy of Science and Technology, alongside staff team from Cabinet of Lao Academy of Science and Technology.
The ceremony started with the speech given by Mr. Keanta Keosuduean, Savanh Secondary School Director. Overall 120 participants which were school teachers and students from Savanh Secondary School, Oudomvilay Secondary School, Phonesavanh Secondary School; each school provided 40 participants respectively; Mr. Phanoupong Sitthipong presented the basics of astronomy and did activities such as Q&A activity, science and astronomy related activity. It was seen that the teachers and students had a lively atmosphere and were interested and willing to listen to the presentation of the academics. After that was the video of the Science and Botany Park concept. Mr. Somsack Arounsavath presented each activity, and the star gazing during the night, then the activities by group like painting and molding the stars using clay.
The goal of the day was to advertise and spread awareness about science and astronomy, which inspire imagination, innovative thinking about science. At the same time, it was to create a chance for student to show their courage, thoughts, expression, and sharing their imaginations to create a piece of new knowledge about science and astronomy let the students use this knowledge in the future.
