Science and Botanical Park Marks International Children’s Day and National Tree Planting Day with Tree-Planting Ceremony
The Science and Botanical Park held a tree-planting ceremony on the morning of 29th May 2026 as part of its development plan to create a greener, cooler, and more pleasant environment.
The event was organized to officially commemorate the 46th anniversary of National Tree Planting Day and the 102nd anniversary of International Children’s Day. The event was attended by a senior provincial official from Vientiane Province, along with provincial leaders, officials, teachers, journalists, and students from nearby schools.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Phouvong SOUYAVONG, President of the Science and Botanical Park, welcomed the guests and expressed his sincere appreciation to the Party and State leadership for giving importance to the event and for dedicating their valuable time to participate.
He stated that forests are not only the “lungs of the world”, but also precious resources that support livelihoods and generate income for people of all ethnic groups. He further noted that the shared date of National Tree Planting Day and International Children’s Day symbolizes the close connection between the future of the nation and the future of the natural environment.
Children and young people, he said, are like the “flowers of the nation”. Teaching them to love and protect nature from an early age is a sustainable investment in preserving the country’s “green treasure” for the future.
